Kenyan Broadcast Premiere of “The Lucky Specials”

“The Lucky Specials” expands its global footprint this Friday, October 20, with its Kenyan broadcast premiere on Citizen TV at 2pm NBO. The film is being broadcast in celebration of Mashujaa Day, also known as Heroes’ Day, which serves as a reminder of outstanding Kenyan men and women who have positively contributed to the country’s history.

“Inside Story”, the debut film from the producers of “The Lucky Specials”, will also be broadcast.

This broadcast premiere comes on the heels of many other international distribution successes for the film, including its most recent broadcast premiere to millions of viewers on Nigeria’s African Independent Television at the beginning of October. Additional recent accolades for the film include: Best First Time Filmmaker at the 2017 San Francisco Black Film Festival; 2017 Telly Award Winner; 2017 Golden Eagle CINE Award Winner; and official selection at the 2017 Zanzibar International Film Festival.

In six months since its World Premiere, “The Lucky Specials” has been screened at nine film festivals; had major premiere events in Johannesburg, Harare, Kampala, Maputo, London, Geneva, and Washington DC; and broadcast in six countries on three continents. Grassroots distribution has allowed for over 10,000 DVDs to be distributed through local and international NGOs, government agencies, and public health experts. The film is slated to reach millions more through continued broadcast and DVD distribution over the next year and beyond.
